Intel Chooses TRACE MODE SCADA/HMI for Office Building Automation

Intel office building in Novgorod CityProtect Company (Nizhny Novgorod city, Russia) used the Russian SCADA/HMI software TRACE MODE 6 to develop a building automation system across Intel's office.

The total building area of 3,740 square meters is designed to accommodate about 190 employees. Intel's office boasts of the most advanced engineering infrastructure: power supply system (up to 2 MW of power!), and cooling station providing ventilation and air conditioning. The brand new building includes advanced server rooms, power supply stabilizing, leakage control, climate control, fire and security alarms, early smoke detection, fire-fighting system, etc.

The heart of Intel's automated building, TRACE MODE 6 SCADA/HMI provides the following features:

  • automates power consumption logging and monitors power supply parameters, such as voltage, current, wattage or Intel building automation systemwaveform distortion factor;
  • automates status monitoring of the power entrance devices (on, off or pulled out);
  • automates status monitoring of the diesel generator;
  • automates status monitoring of uninterruptible power supply;
  • monitors status of the sewerage shutters;
  • monitors leakage;
  • monitors status of the fire retarding and smoke removal valves;
  • automates climate parameter;
  • monitoring across Intel's office, such as temperature and humidity;
  • automates monitoring of the heating pipes temperature;
  •  monitors emergency status of the precision conditioners monitors and controls cooling, ventilation and conditioning.

SCADA TRACE MODE in the Intel office automationThe new TRACE MODE 6 SCADA/HMI based system in Intel's building provides an intelligent automation solution by controlling devices such as chillers, dry coolers, cooling station, pump frequency converters, exhaust fans, central conditioners, fancoils.

The system builds upon the hardware below:

  • Advantech input/output modules
  • Sauter and S+S Regeltechnik temperature/humidity converters;
  • Jola leakage sensors and relays;
  • SAT 4TM power meters;
  • York temperature, humidity, pressure sensors, control valve drives; cooling, ventilation and conditioning controllers
  • Schneider Electric frequency converters.

Within Intel's building automation system, the operator PC communicates with the controllers using the built-in SCADA/HMI TRACE MODE 6 drivers:

  • Advantech modules and SAT 4TM meters - using serial interface;

Trace Mode 6 RTM+ runtime module aquires and processes real time data from controllers. This system also provides operator GUI in English, offering greater flexibility. Enabling end-to-end automation across Intel's building, the system provides the following information screens:

  1. Main screen containing buttons for navigation to additional screens and alarm report including emergency event information. The PC reports emergency events by a sound signal;
  2. Additional screens offering detailed information on cooling, ventilation and conditioning;
  3. Power supply screen providing data from SAT 4TM power meters, power entrance devices, uninterruptible power supply and diesel generator;
  4. Screens with the plans of each floor providing information from climate control sensors, status of fire retarding valves, sewerage shutters, control of precision conditioner emergency status.

A Moscow-based SNIIP-SISTEMATOM company has set up an automated system to control the neutron current in the reactors of the 3rd and 4th power units at Bogunitse nuclear power plant (Slovakia). The new control system has been developed using Russian made SCADA/HMI software TRACE MODE 6.

A similar control system has been also developed for Mokhovtse nuclear power plant (Slovakia).

TRACE MODE SCADA/HMI in Control System at Kazanorgsintez Polyethylene Pipe Production

Kazanorgsintez Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) is one of the biggest chemical enterprises in Russia and Tatarstan. It produces more than 43% of the whole Russian polyethylene and is its biggest exporter.

The Kazanorgsintez OJSC's polyethylene pipe production has recently been automated. Specialists from the Centre company (city of Kazan) have developed and commissioned a control system for the polyethylene pipe production based on NEAT-460 controllers under the control of TRACE MODE Micro RTM, distributed ADAM (Advantech)  and  TRACE MODE 5 SCADA/HMI system modules (AdAstra Research Group, Ltd). 

The implementation of this control system based on TRACE MODE SCADA has enabled Kazanorgsintez OJSC to automate the record-keeping process for the products being manufactured and raw materials being used, monitor the polyethylene pipe production process, detect accidents and prevent them.

800 MWt Power Unit at Talimardjan Power Plant Launched under TRACE MODE SCADA/HMI Control

ZAO PIK ZEBRA (Moscow, Russia) the AdAstrA's system partner has completed development and successfully implemented control system for the power unit 1 (800 MWt) at Talimardjan heat power plant (Uzbekistan). The control system is based on KRUIZ DCS and SOFTLOGIC and HMI software TRACE MODE.

The SCADA/HMI TRACE MODE based Zirconium Electrolysis Control System Demonstrates High Reliability and Fast Payback

Chepetsk Mechanical Factory  (Glazov, Udmurtiya, Russia) is the biggest Russian manufacturer of pipes from zirconium alloys for fuel elements of nuclear reactors.

The zirconium electrolysis control system has been developed by the engineers from Chepetsk Mechanical Factory using PC-based controllers by Octagon Systems (USA), industrial PCs by Advantech and the integrated SCADA and SOFTLOGIC system TRACE MODE. It is interesting, that TRACE MODE  has been used both on operator PC (SCADA/HMI) and in controllers (SOFTLOGIC).

The SCADA/HMI TRACE MODE based control system has shown high reliability. The system availability factor have been equal to 0.984.

The Biggest Chinese Metal Plant Chose TRACE MODE SCADA/HMI

Baoshan Iron & Steel Plant is the biggest metal plant in China. In January 2004, a SCADA/HMI and softlogic process control system for air and oil supply to the rolling mill was successfully launched in the steel-rolling shop of Plant No. 3. The system has been developed by engineers of Silian Corporation, the biggest state instrument-making Chinese corporation.

The process control system has been made in the  SoftDCS architecture. It is based on FCS-2000 redundant PC-based controllers under control of Micro TRACE MODE softlogic software, remote I/O cards and TRACE MODE SCADA/HMI.  According to an OEM-agreement signed with AdAstra, Silian supplies the  FCS-2000 controller with TRACE MODE SCADA/HMI and softlogic software.  

Advantech Chooses TRACE MODE To Control Its Own Office Building

Advantech  Corporation (Taiwan) has presented the Advantech eBuilding Automation System, the control system for its own office building in Beijing  based on the Russian  SCADA & Softlogic system TRACE MODE (AdAstrA Research Group, Ltd, Moscow) and PC-based PLC ADAM 5510/HC (Advantech, Taiwan).

The Advantech Smart Building includes security, access control, climate (HVAC) and power utilities control.  The system has been developed according to the most advanced SoftDCS technology and based on PC-based PLC - ADAM 5510/HC controllers with Micro TRACE MODE , Ethernet network and Web-applications.

Naturally, that as software tool the developers prefered  TRACE MODE - a world leader in the SoftDCS technologies.

Viru RMT Ou (Estonia, EU), Authorized System Integrator of AdAstrA Research Group fulfilled reconstruction of control system for the 1000 tones gas generator retort at the main technological process of VKG oil shale company.

VKG Oil is the biggest oil shale chemical industry in Europe, the main field of activity of which is thermal processing of oil shale. 1.4 million tons oil shale is reprocessed per year. SCADA TRACE MODE 6 Employed in Automated Control System for 2nd Power Unit at Krasnodar Heat and Power Plant

The Krasnodar heat and power plant launched an automated control system for the 2nd power unit that was developed using SCADA TRACE MODE system and the RK-131/300M controllers.

Within the shortest time-frame, a team of four engineers from Yuzhniy Engineering Power Center, YugOGRES, successfully deployed the control system during overhaul at the 2nd power unit.

Permavtomatika, Authorized System Integrator of AdAstrA Research Group, LTD across the Urals, deployed a new dispatch system for the sludge preparation facility at Gornozavodskcement.

Permavtomatika will follow up on this innovation by designing an end-to-end control system for this enterprise. In future, the company aims to provide Gornozavodskcement with an end-to-end SCADA TRACE MODE 6-based control system.

SCADA TRACE MODE and I8000 in Control of Chinese Heat Networks

China-based Shi Jian Zhuang O-SUN Automation Instrument Co. LTD has deployed a billing and control system for the heat networks at Xan-Dan city of Xai Bei province (China) using integrated TRACE MODE SOFTLOGIC and SCADA-system from AdAstrA, the Russian software developer.

The control system uses OSD-LEF3000 heat meters (China) and i8000 controllers (ICP/DAS, Taiwan).

The vegetable oil refinery Volshebniy Kray (Russia) is the largest player in this industry across the southern regions of Russia and is a part of the agricultural group Aston. The plant opted for TRACE MODE 6 SCADA/HMI to provide a control system for automatic batching and supplying of vegetable oil.

The new SCADA TRACE MODE-based control system delivers around-the-clock control capability for asynchronous oil batching from 4 tanks.

The New 25 MW Gas-Engine Heat and Power Plant at Chukotka Running Under TRACE MODE 6 SCADA/HMI

Belelektromontazhnaladka company team has successfully implemented the control system of the gas-engine heat and power plant in Anadyr city (Extreme Nord of Russia). The total power capacity of the gas-engine heat and power plant is 25 MW.

At the operator level of new control system, TRACE MODE SCADA/HMI software is used, while Mitsubishi Electric controllers are used at the hardware level. The control system covers the heat and power processes of the heat and power station and enables control over power supply, ventilation, heating, domestic and hot water supply, water conditioning, heat recovery, fire safety and the fuel and lubricant warehouse.

On July 2, 2007, ELNA company (Moscow) launched the power supply control system at the Volkhovskaya compressor station, a part of the land-based section in the Nord Stream gas pipeline.
