800 MWt Power Unit at Talimardjan Power Plant Launched under TRACE MODE SCADA/HMI Control

ZAO PIK ZEBRA (Moscow, Russia) the AdAstrA's system partner has completed development and successfully implemented control system for the power unit 1 (800 MWt) at Talimardjan heat power plant (Uzbekistan). The control system is based on KRUIZ DCS and SOFTLOGIC and HMI software TRACE MODE. The technology engineering for the control system was provided by ORGRESS company (Moscow).

The Talimardjan heat power plant is the largest power plant in Central Asia. It is the first large heat power plant built in Uzbekistan for the last 13 years. The plant's heat capacity is equal to 3,2 GWt (four power units for 800 MWt). The power plant uses natural gas of the Shurtansky gas field.

The control system for the Talimardjan heat power plant (software for redundant DCS controllers and dozens of HMI PCs) is fully developed in TRACE MODE SCADA/HMI and SOFTLOGIC system. The overall information power of the power unit control system is equal to 11 500 tags, including:

  • analogue inputs – 2867;
  • digital inputs – 3344;
  • analogue outputs – 26;
  • digital outputs – 2239;
  • actuator control – 941;
  • protections – 304;
  • technology blockings – 638;
  • PID loops – 128;
  • statistical values –1187.

The control system for the Talimardjan heat power plant is located in 29  cabinets, containing redundant controllers KRUIZ, operating under Micro TRACE MODE in the hot standby mode and in 16 cross cabinets. The HMI Talimardjan heat power plant control system is run under TRACE MODE Real time monitors and include 29 HMI PCs and video system with 4 video cubes. All control system components are connected by Ethernet network.

PIK ZEBRA company specializes in large scale and high complexity control system development for power industry. Before they implemented the following control systems:

  • control system for power units 1, 2, 3, 4 (210 MWt) for Nassiria  heat power plant (Iraq);
  • control system for gas turbine power units for Tyumen heat power plant (Russia);
  • control system for power units 1 for Pskov heat power plant (Russia).

In all above given projects TRACE MODE SOFTLOGIC and SCADA/HMI software was used.

Before launching the control system was thorougly tested on a full scale heat power unit 800 MWt simulator in the PIK ZEBRA moscow office.

The SCADA/HMI TRACE MODE based Zirconium Electrolysis Control System Demonstrates High Reliability and Fast Payback

Chepetsk Mechanical Factory  (Glazov, Udmurtiya, Russia) is the biggest Russian manufacturer of pipes from zirconium alloys for fuel elements of nuclear reactors.

The zirconium electrolysis control system has been developed by the engineers from Chepetsk Mechanical Factory using PC-based controllers by Octagon Systems (USA), industrial PCs by Advantech and the integrated SCADA and SOFTLOGIC system TRACE MODE. It is interesting, that TRACE MODE  has been used both on operator PC (SCADA/HMI) and in controllers (SOFTLOGIC).

The SCADA/HMI TRACE MODE based control system has shown high reliability. The system availability factor have been equal to 0.984.
